(ATLANTA, Georgia) -- On the heels of a national breakthrough in 2012, Christian music's August Rain has big plans for the new year. In addition to a new tour and upcoming EP produced by Jake Rye (Newsboys, Shine Bright Baby), the band's new single, "iLove," is already impacting radio stations nationwide this month with Shamrock Media Group leading the charge.
"We are so excited about our new single 'iLove,'" says August Rain's Matthew Janzen. "The message is simple. This song reminds us that we love Him because He first loved us."
August Rain has been recording and touring since 2007, but the turning point came in 2012 with the radio-friendly "Show Me Your Light," which jumped onto the Billboard airplay chart as the "Hot Shot Debut," started getting heavy national airplay on the K-LOVE radio network. The band has played everywhere from churches to festivals, sharing the stage with Decemberadio, Laura Story, Aaron Shust, Bluetree, Lindsay McCaul, JJ Weeks Band and many others. The band will hit the road again later this year, headlining their very own Show Me Your Light Tour.
August Rain is known for their diverse sound, which seamlessly blends worship-laced pop, blues and southern Rock, all while encouraging listeners with a message of hope and encouragement. The Georgia-based group came together as the result of leading worship in their local church. Frank Bowen (percussionist), Denise Bowen (keyboards & background vocals), John Griswell (guitar/banjo and background vocals), Erich Janzen (bass, keyboards and vocals) and front man, Matthew Janzen (lead vocals, acoustic and bass) released their first album, "August Rain," in 2008, followed by the release of "Time" in 2011.
"We say this all the time," adds Janzen, "but any success that we achieve commercially is due to the radio networks, stations, program directors and DJ's that believe in our music and message. But more importantly, we know that the impact that the music will have on the lives of the listeners is all because of Him."
